Tires are one of those things that we pretty much can't live without (at least if you have a car you wouldn't be able to), but that we pretty much have to learn to live with once they have served our purposes. Ever curious to what happens to your used and recycled tires? As we learn from BC Government website: Almost 100% of the scrap tires generated are collected and recycled in Delta, B.C. The majority are processed into crumb rubber, granules of rubber with the steel and fibre removed, and also into coloured mulch.
How and where does one recycle their tires?
If you live in the province of BC, we are very blessed to have such amazing system that are capable of taking our old tires and recycle them for us. Learn more here. Together we can limit our landfill and once they're processed, we can even enjoy them!
There is no such thing as 'a way'. When we throw anything away it must go somewhere." Annie Leonard
Lengthening your tire lifespan
Tire rotation helps alleviate the subtle differences in wear rate. You can rotate your tires left to right, back to front, and diagonally to extend the life span of your tires. It's recommended that you rotate your tires or have an expert rotate them every 8,000kms to extend your tires' life span.
